Australian Office Representative Robert Fergusson Visits the Ministry of Justice to Further Promote Taiwan-Australia Judicial Cooperation

On the afternoon of July 26 2024, Mr. Robert Fergusson, the Representative of the Australian Office in Taipei, along with the Deputy Director of Economic and Policy Section Ms. Ingrid Lennon, visited the Ministry of Justice (MOJ). Minister Cheng Ming-Chien personally received the distinguished guests, accompanied by Director General Meng Yu-Mei and Deputy Director General Wong Pei-Hsien from the Department of International and Cross-Strait Legal Affairs, as well as Deputy Director General Chien Mei-Hui and Chief Prosecutor Chen Yi-Li from the Department of Prosecutorial Affairs.
During the meeting, Minister Cheng and Representative Fergusson exchanged views on the Ministry of Justice's policy priorities, the investigation of illegal activities related to green energy, anti-corruption policies, the death penalty policies in both countries, and gender equality issues. Representative Fergusson also pledged to actively promote judicial cooperation between Taiwan and Australia during his tenure. Minister Cheng expressed his pleasure at the continued development of a strong cooperative relationship between the two sides and looked forward to sharing relevant experiences to deepen our mutual ties. The meeting was conducted in a cordial atmosphere, which bodes well for future judicial cooperation between Taiwan and Australia.
